Cocktail bar in London Bridge

The cocktail bar "Flat Iron Square" in London, England, is a versatile leisure and dining destination in the London Bridge area that has made a name for itself due to its vibrant atmosphere and wide range of offerings. It is located in close proximity to the famous Borough Market and the impressive Shard, combining elements of a beer garden, a street food lane, and a venue for sports broadcasts and live music. Originally opened in October 2016, Flat Iron Square moved to a new location in 2022, just about 200 meters from the original site, to make way for the redesign of the so-called "Low Line" – a project aimed at preserving and enhancing the Victorian railway bridges. Today, it is a staple of the Southwark scene, attracting thousands of visitors each week.

Street food options in London

The interior and exterior of "Flat Iron Square" are designed to be inviting and flexible. Under the railway arches is the main taproom bar, surrounded by a large beer garden equipped with seating and a huge outdoor screen – perfect for sports broadcasts such as the Rugby Six Nations or the FIFA World Cup. The area features several street food stalls housed in the arches, as well as a stage for live performances and DJ sets that take place weekly. In winter, part of the venue transforms into "Après London," an alpine lodge with hot cocktails and a cozy atmosphere. Nearby facilities such as the live music venue Omeara and the Cantina with tequila specialties complement the offerings, making the place a cultural hub. The design is urban and casual, focusing on community and enjoyment.

"Po’ Bros" brings the taste of New Orleans with sandwiches like the Chicken Po’ Boy, while "Gamekeeper" is known for its juicy burgers, such as the halloumi burger with crispy fries. The dishes are designed to be served quickly while still delivering great flavor, making them ideal for a casual visit. Beer garden in London Bridge

The drink selection is the centerpiece of the cocktail bar, distinguishing "Flat Iron Square" from a mere food market. The taproom offers a broad range of craft beers and lagers that are poured directly from the arches, including popular varieties from local and independent breweries. In addition to beers, there is an enticing cocktail menu featuring both classics and seasonal drinks made with fresh ingredients – perfect for a relaxing evening or a celebration. Wine lovers will find an exquisite selection in "Tap & Bottle," a somewhat hidden wine cellar that complements the offerings. Orders are mostly placed via an app, and food as well as drinks are delivered to the tables, keeping the process smooth even during peak times – such as during major sports events or on weekends. The venue is particularly known for its sports broadcasts, attracting thousands of fans during events like the Euro Championship, where the atmosphere is described as unparalleled. Additionally, regular events take place, including the weekly "FLEA" vintage and craft market, rounding out the cultural offerings.

Lovely atmosphere there is you seer outside but too loud sometimes even week days . The food I get if from the shops around so I’m not sure if they do nice food themselves. The annoying part is that they don’t have beer from bottle. I kinda straggle to drink from such a big pint and it seems that the rest is different as well but well I go there for the pool table and company .

Awful experience! Singled out due to my race, bare in mind I have met my mates after having no drinks throughout the day, I was disbarred from the bar due to ??? Awful experience! Made me feel less than I am! Will never be back!!! Asked to speak to the manager and was point blank refused. I have attended this venue multiple times before but I feel the security team had a prejudice to me and my friend. Ruined my night, if i could give zero starts I would!!!

Mi sono trovata lì per caso e devo dire che è stata una piacevole sorpresa. Un luogo di ritrovo pee i londinesi. Ottima birra con offerte metà prezzo.

Nice place, I had a steak frites from one of the food vendors and it was delicious. I had a pint of non alcoholic lager from the main bar and it wasn't too bad at all. Probably not the best place for sitting outside in a storm, but there's enough cover not to get wet. Great meeting point if you're going to Omeara. Also good for watching live sport.

Advertised prices are not correct. Food advertised at 5.90 for a falafel wrap is actually 9.00.

Stopped by Flat Iron Square in Southwark a couple times during a recent visit to London. This is a large open bar and a few seating sections, loads of tellies showing football matches, a few billiards tables and several food stations. They serve a nice range of draught beers, we also tried the Venison burgers from the Gamekeeper food station, these were really good. They have staff tending tables if you don't want to order at the bar, environs are great for meeting up friends after work or before matches they will show on the day. Fun place to visit in Southwark.
